In preparation for the musical fireside, I would really love for anyone/everyone to leave a comment about a few things: #1 A short story/or comment about what the Atonement means to you or an experience that you've had in how the Atonement has helped you. (All aspects of the Atonement. (if you don't want to leave it on here you can email it to me at jason.melanie.crane@gmail.com) #2 Favorite Artists/songs about the Atonement. They can be hymns, or hymn arrangements, or newer artists and their songs.
If you don't want to share a personal experience, that's Ok, but if you could atleast think of music that has moved you or helped you through the Atonement would be fabulous!
Thank you all in advance. I really appreciate it.

so when is your Fireside? I love the song He Hears Me by Hilary Weeks. The atonement is so personal and can be lengthy so it is a good thing that you asked for a short answer. Short answer - from me :). I have found that the atonement can be applied any time I am not feeling as close to my Savior as I ought to be or when I experience any feelings that are not from him. Remembering to humble myself and ask him for his help to be more like him. Essentially we need his help everyday. He is absolutely wonderful and he does hear each and everyone of our pleas.
Good Luck and keep me updated on your guys lives. Much Love and success to each of you!
Let me think about it and I'll get back to ya.(Hopefully before it's too late.)
The simple hymn: 'I Know My Father Lives' is the one that I love and that blesses my focus.
Interesting that the composer wanted to make it something amazing (he has great talent and skill as an arranger) yet felt strong that he should leave it very simple.
The Atonement is best viewed from a (Child-like) uncomplicated-quiet-simple-humble-faith point of view because then we will understand it and come to know that the Atonement is real because it works.
I love "When He Comes Again" and "Jesus, Once of Humble Birth." Those two songs really help me understand the Atonement and it's meaning in my life.
Also, my SIL just finished a cd about the savior. I'll send you a copy to see if any of her songs fit in what you're doing.
The atonement has meant different things at different times in my life. For example when I had a miscarriage I was able to feel comfort knowing that the Savior felt my loss and pain. When I have done something wrong I know that if I change my ways then I will be forgiven because of the atonement. The atonement means so many different things to many different people. I know that the dept of gratitude to my Savior is unexplainable by words and I just hope that my actions will prove a small part of my gratitude to Him. I also LOVE the song 'Be Still My Soul'

The Gift
A package is a pretty thing.
Gaily wrapped and tied with string.
Topped with a bow of brightest hue.
But what's inside? There's not a clue.
It may be big, it may be small,
It may be short, it may be tall.
It could be gold, it could be socks,
There could be nothing in that box.
The wrapping tells no tale at all,
It just sits there with pride,
And waits for us to cut the string
And see what is inside.
Now we could just enjoy that wrap,
And not do any more.
But most of us can hardly wait,
Till strings are cut and paper tore.
The wrapping is so soon forgot,
With care the lid we lift,
And what was just a package
Has now become a gift.
God sent a package down to earth,
Was sent from heaven above.
He wrapped it up with human flesh
And tied it tight with love.
They stripped the wrappings from it,
And nailed it to tree.
It then became the gift of God
For all the world to see.
What sacrifice God's only son
Who died to set men free
The tag upon the package
Was addressed to you and me.

Thank you Teresa. That's a sweet poem. Isn't it so wonderful to reflect upon the Love God offers us, especially through His Son!
